The pregnant trauma patient
Abstract
The pregnant trauma patient poses some unique challenges. The well-being of two patients is at stake and even minor injury can lead to pregnancy losses. Physiological and anatomical differences have to be considered as well as the influence of imaging modalities and treatment on the developing foetus. Any woman of childbearing age who presents with trauma should be considered pregnant till pregnancy is ruled out by a definitive blood test or ultrasound.1Downloads
